![Sabretache, 1831-53. A sabretache is a flat satchel worn by cavalry officers from the left of the waist belt and would have originally been used to carry maps and dcuments. The pouches were usually attached to long straps and inflexible to create a solid base on which to write. This pouch has a gold coloured crest with a wreath of oak leaves around a crescent moon and star circled by the words 'The Borough of Hungerford' and a crown above.
