Gunner A. Spooner

We do not yet have information on this casualty.

An A. Spooner is listed on the memorial board in the town hall with an indication that he was in the Royal Navy. If he was a gunner it is quite possible he would have been in the Royal Marine Artillery who manned the large guns on the fleet's biggest ships.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission shows only four Spooner's lost in the Great War with only one being in the Royal Marine Artillery. This marine is shown as coming from Kent with no obvious Hungerford Connections.
