You are in [Themes] [Domesday Manors]

There is no single "manor of Hungerford", and there is no mention of a manor of Hungerford in the Domesday Survey of 1086.

The history is much more complicated!

There were several ancient manors which included land in Hungerford, and many further Domesday Survey manors nearby, including:

  • Inglefol (Hungerford Engleford),
  • Charlton (Hopgrass and Charnham Street),
  • Eddington,
  • Denford,
  • Leverton,
  • Inkpen,
  • Avington,
  • Chilton Foliat,
  • Shalbourne and
  • Kintbury.
