You are in [People] [Local Historians] [Roger Day]

Roger Day, whose family have always lived in and around Ramsbury for generations, has been interested in the wartime history of the area for over 30 years.

He lives in Hungerford, and retired as a local postman in 2011.

His knowledge of the local history of the Second World War is encyclopaedic, and he has written excellent books on the subject:

- Ramsbury At War, 1999 (Revised and updated 2004)

- Savernake at War, 2007

- Membury at War (2011)

- Look, Duck and Vanish- A History of the 6th (Marlborough) Battalion, Wiltshire Home Guard 1940-1944 (2011)

Roger has a great website www.ramsburyatwar.com

In December 2021 Countryside Books published "A Motoring History of the Kennet Valley" written by Roger Day and Tim Green. This beautifully researched book has liberal colour and monochrome photographs, and includes detailed information on the several premises in Hungerford associated with the motoring trade.
