10/11.8.1918: The attacking company formed up in the front line. The ground in front of our line is flat and covered with corn giving a certain amount of cover. It is entirely covered
by Rennett Farm and Bridge with a Trench in between. The River is 25ft wide, slow running and very muddy. All the crossings are covered by the enemy.
Zero Hour – 4.15 am. The attack was made by 'D' Company supported by 'C' Company. Two platoons of 'D' Company advanced and crossed the stream by footbridge, two platoons crossing
higher up by plank bridges which had been put in position during he night. The attack was carried out in a most gallant manner but was not successful, as the scheme was a weak one.
Casualties – Officers killed 2, Wounded 3 Ors – Killed 11, wounded and missing3, missing 2. Wounded 66 (32 gassed)
