Rifleman 372093 John Preston
1st/8th Battalion London Regiment (Post Office Rifles)

Local Information:

Rifleman Preston was the husband of Eleanor K. Preston of 'Purnea' 21 Oxford Road, Newbury, Berkshire.

He was killed in action on the 15th September 1916, age 26. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing.

Regimental Information:

None available.

[Note – We have no information about his link with Hungerford. He is the only Rifleman in the First World War under this name to have been killed in action. He will remain in place until we receive any information to the contrary. ]
