Local Information:
Private Brazener was the Husband of Agnes May Brazener, of 2, Essex Rd., Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire and a native of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
He died after the war had ended on the 28th February 1919, age 31. He is buried in St Pierre Cemetery, Amiens. We believe he was living in Hungerford at some point prior to
enlistment, but have no further information about him.
Regimental Information:
His unit is shown as the Devonshire Regiment (3rd Labour Company) having transferred from the Labour Corps (168th Company).
During the war Labour companies were manned by medically downgraded soldiers or those recovering from wounds. They were deployed in all manner of tasks during the war, but once
the fighting had finished they were deployed in great numbers to clear the battlefield. A number were killed carrying out this task. We have no record of how he died, it was either as a result of
clearing the field of battle or the Flu epidemic that was sweeping Europe at that time.
