Private 2108 E A Rosier
1st/7th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment.

Local Information:

Private Rosier was the son of Mrs G. Rosier, of 'Highfield', Charnham Street, Hungerford.

He died on Monday, 10th May 1915, age 25 and is buried in Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, Pas de Calais, France. He went to France on 12th March 1915.

The Regimental War Diary reads:




	The cap badge of the Middlesex Regiment known as "The Diehards"

5th May 1915 – Battalion took over billets in the Rue du Bois, La Gorgue.

6th May 1915 – Battalion took over No 2 section of trenches. On the 7th May the enemy made a determined rush from rear and front on an advanced sap held by Lt A.G. Groser and 15 men. The attack was beaten off, 5 enemy dead left behind. Our casualties 1 killed, 7 wounded.

9th May 1915 Battalion staff established its HQ at redoubt in front of Cellar Farm.

10th May 1915 Casualties 3 killed, (One of these was Private Rosier)
