The War Diary reads:
9th August 1918 – Battalion moved, with Division, to Beaucort Area.10th August 1918 – 4.30 am Battalion moved forward to Battle area. Fighting portion of Battalion took up
position in front of Damery.
11th August 1918 – Orders issued that the battalion was to capture Damery Wood, Damery Village and to join the Royal Scots. At 9.30am the barrage opened and the companies went forward
over the parapet. Casualties caused by heavy machine gun fire form direction of Parvillers.
Casualties: Officers killed 7, wounded 7; Other Ranks killed 26, missing 42, wounded 240 (1 gassed).
