From leaving school and up to the time of his enlistment, Pte Liddiard had worked for the Wessex Electricity Board as a Linesman.
Frederick Harold Liddiard was among those British Forces serving in Northern Ireland at the early stages of the war in order to stop the ports of Eire falling into
German hands. Whilst with the Royal Berkshire Regiment he was involved in an accident whilst riding a motor-cycle on Dispatch Rider duties, receiving serious head injuries. Initially, he was taken to a
Belfast hospital for treatment, before being moved to a military hospital where his condition worsened and he died of his injuries on 7 April 1941.
