You are in [Themes] [Schools] [Dame Schools] [17 High Street]

Marianne Averill ran a small school from 17 High Street where her husband Charlie was the shop manager of Seeds & Cereals from c1942 until c1952.

There were 5-6 children from 4 to 8 years.

Local children attending the school included Robert James' cousins Mary and Joey, Jeannie Ruhl nee Fisher, and Sue and Peter Bishop of Bridge Street.

(With thanks to Robert James)
