"The Woolpack" at Hungerford is mentioned in "English Country Life, 1780-1830" by E W Bovill. It refers to a document dated 1756-1761 in the Wiltshire Record Office.

The photocopies on the right are monochrome photocopies of pen and water-colour paintings of "The Woolpack Inn at Hungerford" by Thomas Rowlandson, 1796. There are small differences between the paintings. The lower one (including a couple of huntsmen and hounds in the foreground rather than the carrier's wagon). The lower painting sold in Christies sale of Bristol Drawings and Watercolours on 11th Nov 1997 for £5,520 (including Buyers Premium).

The site of The Woolpack is not yet known. There is a suggestion that it is the inn in Hungerford Newtown now known as the Tally Ho!
