Norman Hidden

Who researched so much of the
early history of Hungerford

Did you know...?

The first Speaker of the
House of Commons was
Sir Thomas Hungerford in 1377.

Did you know...?

The use of surnames started
by 1300, but there was no  consistency in spelling. Surnames were not always used, nor invariably  passed from parent to child. Different surnames for the same individual  could be used in different contexts. Even a fairly distinctive surname  may be difficult to trace until the 17th century.
