The Duke family lived in what is now the Antiques Arcade, 26 High Street, from c1770 until c1851, firstly Dr Edward Duke, surgeon, then Rev Edward Duke, and finally Miss Sarah Duke.

A small snippit of family history is found in an article dated 1915 in "Wiltshire Notes and Queries".

They were related to the Hungerford family.
