Amongst the myriad of documents relating to the early history of Hungerford, Norman and Joyce Hidden transcribed various Law-suits connected with the Town and People of Hungerford. These were collected into three volumes:

- Vol.1 Court of  Chancery 1431-1755 (15.4Mb)
- Vol.2 Court of  Duchy of Lancaster 1366-1888 (10.1Mb)
- Vol.3  Miscellaneous 1248-1773 (16.7Mb)
 

Derek Patience also transcribed a number of early documents, and corresponded with Norman Hidden. He finds that one Court of Chancery case that was not included in Volume 1. He kindly sent a summary of the case. Derek considers it is quite an important  document for the history of Hungerford, in that it provides details of  the ownership of the last  property at the southern end, west side, of  the High Street (now 53/54 High Street?) from the 1573 survey  through to 1610.
